Kaitlyn Murphy is a multifaceted artist, from South Georgia, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Art at Valdosta State University. She works with many medias: graphite, charcoal, alcohol ink markers, ceramics, graphic design, murals, and photography. With a distinctive artistic vision inspired by vintage aesthetics and personal experiences, Kaitlyn explores themes of releasing control, the balance of opposing forces, and advocacy in her work.

Her notable achievements include placing third in the 2021 Day of Inclusion Student Showcase with her photograph series, “Migrant Workers” and winning a graphic design contest for the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra. She has also operated a small business creating custom graduation cap toppers for graduates to celebrate their achievements. Kaitlyn also worked with other art students to paint murals for a local skating rink, led by faculty member Craig Hawkins. After this experience she went on to create more murals at local businesses in Valdosta.

In addition to her artistic practice, Kaitlyn is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of creative minds by teaching and assisting art classes for children at the Turner Center for the Arts. Kaitlyn will be pursuing K-12 art education after graduation.
